Frequently Asked Questions
Selecting the right bookkeeper for your business is an important decision.
We know you have questions…here are a few of the most common.
What types of services are provided in the Monthly Bookkeeping Service?
Each month we will reconcile your bank and credit card statements categorizing all business related income and expenses. We will create any necessary journal entries and complete any needed data entry. Finally, we will create the Top 3 Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows) and review these statements with you.
Do I need a QuickBooks Clean Up?
If you have been doing your books yourself, I can almost guarantee that you need a clean-up. Why do I say that? Because you are an expert at your business (plumbing, chiropractic, real estate, tutoring, etc.), and that means that you are probably not an expert at accounting or QuickBooks. But that’s okay, we are!
How much do bookkeeping services cost?
There is no easy answer to this question and as much as we dislike saying it….”it depends.” Many factors go into determining the cost of monthly bookkeeping or clean-up services. It may not be as much as you think. And really, it’s priceless to have the pertinent financial information you need to run your business. Reach out and let’s chat about it.
Do you require a contract?
Nope! We don’t require a lengthy annual contract. We work on a month-to-month basis. If at any time you feel you no longer need our services, please let us know 30 days in advance….no hard feelings.
How do I know if I am a good fit for Sandhills Bookkeeping?
- Your business is growing and you need to rely on the numbers to make decisions for your future.
- You are collaborative and willing to invest the time to maintain a two-way relationship with us.
- You are serious about running your company like a business.
Is an engagement letter required?
Yes. After our initial consultation, we will send you a proposal for the services you have requested. If everything looks good to you, we will send over an engagement letter for your approval.
What accounting software do you use?
I am a QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, so the preferred accounting software is QuickBooks Online.
What if I don’t use Quickbooks?
Unfortunately, QuickBooks is the only accounting software solution that we work with, so we won’t be able to do your bookkeeping you if you don’t use QuickBooks. Convert to QuickBooks….all the cool kids are doing it! And we can help you with that too!
Shouldn’t my bookkeeper be local?
The internet and cloud technology makes it easy for bookkeepers to work with clients located across the country. We collaborate with our clients to provide bookkeeping that’s in real-time, at the same time, from anywhere, and on any device.
What information will I need to share with Sandhills Bookkeeping?
Everything! Just kidding…sort of. To give you the best quality bookkeeping, we need the full financial picture of your business. To start, we will need read-only access to your business bank account(s) and credit card account(s) as well as access to your current QuickBooks company file. For cleanup services, we will need additional items such as prior year tax return/financial statement, complete list of bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and/or a complete list of assets and depreciation schedules.
What qualifications do you have?
I have a minor in Accounting and over 20 years experience in bookkeeping for two family owned businesses that I operated with my husband. In addition to being a bookkeeper, I was also a business owner, so I bring the value of strategic planning and business knowledge along with me. I am also a QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor.
If I have a questions, how can I contact you and when should I expect a reply?
We offer unlimited email support, and we strive to respond to client inquiries within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays). If we can’t get an answer to you within 24 hours, we will respond to let you know we’ve received your email and will get back to you as quickly as possible with an answer for you. We stay off the phone as much as possible as it is more efficient (especially if we are in different time zones) and it serves as a protection to you and me that we have a paper trail of our correspondence.
Will you also do my income taxes?
Nope, we leave the tax prep to the professionals who specialize in the complexities of tax laws and regulations. We will work directly with your chosen CPA to provide quarterly/annual financial information as needed for them to prepare and file your taxes.
Will you work my accountant/CPA during tax time?
Absolutely. The record-keeping completed throughout the year will be vital information that you can provide to your tax preparer.
